General Info

SGPC was formed from Menai Performance Centre in 2007 when WASA (Wales Amateur Swimming Association), having celebrated its centenary, began to review and reorganise competitive swimming activities in Wales. Swim Wales evolved, North Wales was one of its three regions, Swim Gwynedd one of its Performance Centres, drawing members from Bangor, Caernarfon, Eryri and Harlech swimming clubs. It has been my privilege to be Chairperson and to see SGPC emerge and develop.

The aim of the Centre is to provide the advance stages of the Swimming Development Plan, leading to competitive success, and behind every successful swimmer is a host of people. To name just some: parents who become taxi-drivers whatever the inconveniences; coaches who offer skills, training and encouragement; and members of the Committee who all put in a lot of time and energy, without which the club just could not exist. It is a team effort in the pool and behind the scenes. I thank everyone who has served on the Committee for all their help and support, and look forward to all new volunteers helping to spread the load.

May SGPC have every success possible in the future.

Swimmers are given the opportunity to maximise their potential.
Gwynedd Council is supporting us with valuable free pool time.
Performance is assessed whilst on the competitive pathway.
Centre members include Swimmers, Parents, Coaches, Helpers and Committee.
